Mediacorp Vasantham’s biennial awards ceremony that honours the best of the local Indian entertainment industry takes place tonight at the spanking new Mediacorp Campus. A total of 27 awards will be up for grabs. The Most Popular Male Personality and Most Popular Female Personality awards (as well as the Most Popular Drama Song) will be determined by the public via online voting.

Since the pair of awards under scrutiny boil down to popularity, we decided to scour social media for possible hints as to who might emerge victorious. Instagram is, undeniably, the hottest social media platform right now. We went through the Instagram profiles of some of the nominees to find out who the most followed Mediacorp Vasantham celebrities are. Do the results come as a surprise? Yes, and no.

No longer a newbie to the local Indian television scene, doe-eyed Shafinah takes ninth place amongst the most followed Vasantham celebrities. Not bad at all.

She’s not just an actress and host, she’s also a radio jockey. It’s no wonder then that Shamini has amassed herself quite the fan base on Instagram.

Since emerging as the first runner-up of Miss Vasantham 2011, Nithiyia has shown that she’s capable of more than just strutting down a runway. This multitalented lady takes seventh place.

It’s no surprise that Eswari Gunasagar clinches top spot on this list. She does afterall have a multiracial fanbase since she’s a part of Tanglin on Channel 5. Congrats to her for being the most followed Vasantham celebrity on Instagram!
